The Detroit Pistons added No. 13 pick Jalen Duren and veteran point guard Kemba Walker in a trade with the New York Knicks during the 2022 NBA Draft, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Duren was the announced pick for the Charlotte Hornets, but Charania reported that he was traded to the Knicks while ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski said he was traded to the Pistons. Charania later said that Duren was acquired by New York and packaged with Walker in a deal with Detroit.
According to Wojnarowski, the Hornets received a 2025 first-round pick in the deal. The Knicks' compensation hasn't yet been revealed.
Earlier in the evening, the Pistons selected Jaden Ivey with the No. 5 pick and did not include him in the trade to acquire Duren.
Tremendous coup for Detroit GM Troy Weaver to land two of his top targets in this draft: Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren -- with the cost of only a future first-round pick.

Walker, 32, appeared in 37 games with the Knicks last season, but was a healthy scratch for large stretches before he was shut down for the year in February. The two sides agreed to hunt for a trade in the offseason and found a new home for Walker in Detroit.
Duren is a 6-foot-11 center who averaged 12.0 points and 8.1 rebounds per game in his only season at Memphis before entering the 2022 NBA Draft.
