Jonathan Kuminga Gets Honest on Relationship With Steve Kerr
USA TODAY Sports

It's been an incredibly tumultuous season for Jonathan Kuminga and Warriors head coach Steve Kerr. The season started with Kuminga leaking reports of his unhappiness and has now progressed to him starting and playing heavy minutes. As such, their relationship also heavily evolved.

In an interview with Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, Jonathan Kuminga opened up about his relationship with Steve Kerr. He specifically touched on getting more playing time, and how hard Kerr coaches him.

"I just told him how I feel, he told me how he feels. Things he wanted me to do more to get more playing time. After that, just going out there and just enjoying it, enjoying playing for him. He's coaching me harder. Sometimes you don't understand things until it comes to your eyes. Somebody wants great things for you, that's why they coach you harder. I think that's what it was, just him coaching me harder every time because he wants great things from me. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be on this court. I wouldn't have this type of spirit to go out there and play."

One of the biggest reasons for the Warriors' recent success was both the development of Jonathan Kuminga and the development of Kerr's trust in him. With the absence of Draymond Green and the decline of Klay Thompson, the Warriors must put more faith in players like Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski - that's exactly what the team is doing now.
