Blazers’ Scoot Henderson To Miss Additional 2-3 Weeks With Bone Bruise
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

An MRI conducted on Portland Trail Blazers rookie Scoot Henderson revealed bone bruising in addition to the right ankle sprain he’s been dealing with.

A return-to-play timeline of an additional 2-3 weeks will be taken for further resolution of the bruising. Henderson hasn’t played since November 1 against the Detroit Pistons.

The Blazers drafted Henderson with the third overall pick in the 2023 draft. The youngster is averaging 8.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists on the season while shooting 34.6% from the field, 9.5% from beyond the arc and 85.7% from the free-throw line.

The Blazers are 3-5 on the season. They face LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers on November 12.

Henderson has gotten off to a rough start in the NBA. However, his numbers will likely improve as the season moves along. He’s too talented of a player to not play better.

The Blazers are building around Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe in the post-Damian Lillard era. Portland traded Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks in a blockbuster trade before the season started. Lillard requested a trade to the Miami Heat but got sent to the Bucks.

The injury bug has bitten the Blazers already. Henderson is going to be out for a while and center Robert Williams III will miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury. Portland acquired Williams III from the Boston Celtics in the Jrue Holiday trade.

All signs point toward the Blazers not making the playoffs this season. They probably won’t be a play-in team either.
