Formula 1 was riddled with controversies throughout the winter break. Toto Wolff and Susie Wolff were investigated in a ‘conflict of interest’ by the FIA. The entire ordeal caused widespread backlash from fans and the Wolffs themselves. Now, Lewis Hamilton took a firm stance on FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem amidst Susie Wolff’s legal complaint.

The FIA conducted a thorough investigation into the ‘conflict of interest’ case surrounding Susie Wolff and Toto Wolff. The sports governing body dropped the case against the couple after some hectic days in the paddock.

However, amidst the 2024 season, Susie Wolff decided to resurrect the old matter once again. According to reports, the head of the F1 academy has decided to present a criminal complaint with the French court. Susie Wolff lodged the case against FIA to seek justice over the entire matter as it was spread without the person’s control over it. However, other major information about the case hasn’t been revealed yet.

Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton was vocal regarding his feelings over the status quo. The seven-time world champion mentioned how the sport was still ‘male dominated’ following the probe. However, following Susie Wolff’s recent complaints and case, the 39-year-old once again commented on the status quo. Hamilton asserted how Mohammed Ben Sulayem wasn’t the most suitable for the job. Additionally, the Briton mentioned that he never supported Ben Sulayem in the first place to begin with.

If he is the right man to be president of the FIA and if you still have my support? He never had it. Hamilton said, as reported by BBC.com.

FIA cleared Mohammed Ben Sulayem of all recent allegations against him

Multiple sources had put FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem under fire following multiple allegations. According to one source, the FIA president allegedly hid two more cases against Christian Horner. As a result, the 62-year-old received a lot of backlash amidst the 2024 season. However, FIA has officially responded to the entire situation.

FIA officially cleared the FIA president of any such wrongdoings. The Ethics Committee from FIA was involved while investigating Ben Sulayem. Hence, the 62-year-old will continue to carry out his duties as intended. As for Lewis Hamilton, the 39-year-old would have to continuously speak up against Ben Sulayem to ensure his voice is heard.

After reviewing the results of the inquiries, the Ethics Committee were unanimous in their determination that there was no evidence to substantiate allegations of interference of any kind involving the FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem.

FIA issued a statement, as reported by motorsport.com.

The 2024 season has begun in a full-swing mode after witnessing Red Bull’s dominant two victories. This season could portray how the rival teams have built resistance against Milton Keynes’ dominant performance. Hence, Mohammed Ben Sulayem will continue his duties for the foreseeable future.
